President Bola Ahmed Tinubu held a closed door meeting with top Ogoni leaders in the Persons of Senator Magnus, Abe, senator lee maeba, senator Barry Mpigi, Barr. Ledum Mittee, Chief Victor Giadom, prof. B. fakae.
Also Present was The executive Governor of Riverstate Sir. Simi fubara, The Fct Minister Ezenwo Nyesome Wike,Federal, Top Federal National Officials including  National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and NNPC CEO Mele Kyari.
This meeting was crucial for the reconciliations of Peace with the Ogoni people and to look for ways to foster good partnership with the ogoni people.
Recall that the people of Ogoni suffered Heavily From Oil spillage during the course of shell exploration of oil in their land, This oil spillage lead to the destructions of sources of livelihood of the people which include their farm lands, their fish ponds and even their homes. Even at this destruction nothing was done to help the poor families who encountered this great loss.
Not only was sources of livelihood lost, people lost their lives in the course of speaking for their own right, people like ken Saro wiwa and the other Nine Ogonis who where sentence to death by hanging by the orders of the Nigerian Court during the regime of Abacha.
To mention but a few, what about the lives who died from the course of drinking contaminated water from the Oil spillage, what about the lives who died due the killing and the rapping of women and wives during the course of military invasion. this pains still lie heavily in the heart every ogoni child considering the facts even what their fathers fought is yet still of no result to show. Because of this great menace that was faced with the Ogoni people the exploration of oil their land was stopped in 1993. It is on this course that the government is working to restore the broken relationship and recontinue the exploration of oil in their lands.
